TicketSmarter WAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – Grand Canyon's Paige Hildebrandt and Niki Xydona has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for January 27 - February 2.
Hildebrandt, the senior from Peoria, Ariz., marked up the WAC leader boards this week while earning gold in one of the events competed. Hildebrandt finished fourth in the Mile run to clock a time of 4:57.07 in the Houston Invitational. Her mile time is now number one in the WAC this season. Hildebrandt earned gold in the 3000m run with a time of 9:50.61. The time is now number one for the WAC this season as well.
Xydona, the senior from Thiva, Greece, earned bronze this week at the Houston Invitational in the Pentathlon event. Xydona earned a score of 3608. Her score is now number one in the WAC by 253 points. Xydona was able to get third in the Long Jump Event with a length of 5.63m.
Other track nominees: Seattle U's Regie Grady set a personal best in the 200m (25.98) and the 400m (57.81)... UTRGV's Mystique Brown ran in the 60m (7.84) and in the 200m (24.85).
Other field nominee: UTRGV's Samariae Bonds finished fourth in the Weight Throw (18.33m) and first in the Shot Put (16.59m).
