TicketSmarter WAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – Grand Canyon's Marina McInelly and Northnern Arizona's Emily Sharrer has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 27- February 2.
McInelly, a junior from Gilbert, Ariz., swan hard to earn 22 individual points. McInelly touched the wall first in the 100 Breast again this week with a time of 1:02.83 which is .17 seconds than her time from last week. She also improved from last week in the 200 Breast to 2:17.92. McInelly also swam in the 200 IM, where she improved again, to earn silver at 2:07.45.
Sharrer, a sophomore from Tucson, Ariz., competed in the 3-meter dive this weekend and received a score of 308.15 earning. She placed second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 287.70. Sharrer also competed in the Platform dive with a score of 223.90.
Other swimmer nominees: CBU's Rebeca Oviedo had two individual first-place finishes in the 200 Free (1:49.73), 500 Free (4:53.95)... Idaho's Rylie Jones had two individual wins (200 Free; 1:55.90, 100 Fly; 56.80)... Seattle U's Alex Hoeper had two first-place, 500 Free (5:15.22) and 200 Back (2:02.96).
Other diver nominees: CBU's Savannah Uhlir finished first on the 1-meter (248.40)...Grand Canyon's Sara Lameiro Castellanos had two first place wins... Idaho's Heather Carbon came in first-place.
