TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – UNLV's Richard Szilagyi and GCUs Piertro Hufnagel Toscani has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 27- February 2.
Szilagyi, the junior from Sighisoara, Romania, earned two first-place finishes in two individual events. He first competed in the 100 Free to earned gold with a time of 44.51. Szilagyi later touches the wall first in the 100 Back with a time of 49.09. Szilagyi also swam in two first place relays (200 Medley Relay; 1:29.76, 400 Free Relay; 3:00.83).
Toscani, the senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, scored a 335.90 in the 1-meter board, placing first. He scored a 335.90 in the 3-meter board which allowed him to capture first.
Other swimmer nominees: CBU's Jacob Leahy placed gold in two events (100 Back;49.00, 100 Free; 44.84)... GCU's Mazen Shoukri earned first-place in the 50 Free (20.82) and 100 Free (49.62).
Other diver nominees: CBU's Evan Honer earned first in the 1-meter (298.80) and 3-meter (281.63) dive... UNLV's Jesse Cawley had earned second in the 1-meter (308.80) and 3-meter (308.80).
