DENVER – California Baptist's Katelyn Mangrello and Seattle U's Shi Smith have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 24-March 1.

Mangrello, a freshman catcher from Fountain Valley, Calif., slashed .524/.545/.714 to lead the Lancers to a 3-3 record over the week, starting all six games behind the plate. Her week was highlighted by a three-hit, five-RBI performance in an extra-inning win over Jackson State where she earned the game-winning RBI in the top of the eighth. Mangrello finished the week with 11 hits, 15 total bases, six RBIs, one double, one home run and zero strikeouts.

Smith, a junior right-hander from Gresham, Ore., earned her second consecutive Pitcher of the Week award as she went 2-1 on the week and also picked up a save for the Redhawks. She pitched a complete game in Seattle U's 6-1 win over Oregon State, striking out 10 batters, allowing only four hits and giving up zero walks. In the Redhawks' second game of the day, she came in and pitched a shutout seventh to close out a 4-3 victory over Hawaii. Yesterday, the junior struck out nine batters in just under four innings after coming in during the fourth on her way to earning the win over Hawaii.

Other Hitter of the Week nominees included: Grand Canyon's Lilly Bishop finished the weekend with a .444 batting average, .500 on-base percentage and five RBIs, including going 2-for-3 with two RBIs against No. 25 Texas Tech… Kansas City's Alexis D'Ambrosio batted .444 with four hits, one double, a home run and two RBIs to help the Roos take two of three games against Southeast Missouri State… NM State's Ramsey Lopez batted .545, slugged 1.182 and had a .647 on-base percentage with two home runs and four RBIs as the Aggies competed in the Boyd Gaming Classic in Las Vegas… Seattle U's Bailey Thompson finished the week with a .813 slugging percentage, two home runs and four RBIs to lead the Redhawks to wins over Oregon State and Hawaii at the Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament in Hawaii…

Other Pitcher of the Week nominees included: Kansas City's Kailyn Packard pitched 17 innings, struck out 14 batters and held a 2.47 ERA for the Roos, including pitching a complete game in a 2-1 win in the final game of the series against SEMO… NM State's Matalasi Faapito went 1-1 on the weekend, pitching 17.2 innings and striking out 11 batters with only one home run allowed for the Aggies.
