Grand Canyon’s Holland Named Her Hoops Stats Fab 15 Freshman
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Grand Canyon's Jada Holland has been selected to the Her Hoops Stats Fab 15 Freshman team in conjunction with Mel Greenberg, the United States Basketball Writers Association women's representative. The players were selected from the nation's 32 conference freshman of the year recipients.
Holland, a guard from Pleasanton, Calif., was not only named WAC Freshman of the Year but also picked up honors for WAC Newcomer of the Year and was named First Team All-WAC. She averaged 11.7 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and led all freshman with 1.5 steals per game. She also led the league in assist to turnover ratio (+1.9) and finished second in the conference in assists per game, dishing out 4.9 helpers each game for the Lopes.
Nationally, Holland ranked in the top 100 of all players in assists per game (44th), assist to turnover ratio (68th) and total assists (76th).
She helped lead the Lopes to their first 10-win season in conference play since Grand Canyon joined the league in 2013. Holland led GCU in scoring, assists, steals and minutes per game (31.8). She notched double figures in the scoring column in 15 of the Lopes' 27 games this season.
