NCAA Honors 18 Programs Across WAC With Public Recognition Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Eighteen WAC programs, including one program from each of the eight full NCAA Division I conference members, have been honored by the NCAA with Public Recognition Awards, bestowed on teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rates after the 2018-19 academic year.

The WAC teams honored are:

Women's Golf Seattle U
Women's Soccer Utah Valley
Women's Tennis Grand Canyon
Women's Tennis Kansas City
Women's Tennis NM State
Women's Volleyball CSU Bakersfield
Women's Volleyball Grand Canyon
Women's Volleyball UT Rio Grande Valley

A total of 1,380 Division I teams from 326 schools received the NCAA Public Recognition Award for the 2018-19 academic year. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the ongoing academic performance for each team in every sport. All teams must meet an academic threshold of 930 to qualify for the postseason and can face penalties for continued low academic performance.
