Fourteen WAC Men's Golfers Earn GCAA Academic Award

NORMAN, Okla. - A total of 14 men's golfers from the WAC have been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America for their academic success, being named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.

Three golfers from four different schools represented the WAC on the initial list. California Baptist was represented by John Hayes, Dan Heron and Ryan Monsalve. Kansas City golfers Max Catherine, Paul Foulquie and McCain Schellhardt earned honors, as did Seattle U trio Nathan Cogswell, Greg Gionfriddo and Jack Rahon. UT Rio Grande Valley was the final WAC school to earn honors, represented by Henry Fisher, Euan Gill and Alex Summers.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team's competitive rounds.

In the second wave of honorees, NM State's Niall Powell and Seattle U's Fedrico Gutierrez received honors.
