Five WAC Teams Earn United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award
KANSAS CITY – It was announced Thursday that five WAC members received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for their performance in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year. This award is granted to collegiate programs that posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
A total of 889 soccer teams (333 men, 556 women) were honored. Of that total, 174 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
For the second consecutive year, Utah Valley led the way as they finished with a cumulative 3.66 grade-point average. California Baptist also garnered the award with a 3.57 GPA, followed by UT Rio Grande Valley with a 3.51, Seattle U made the cut with a 3.45 and CSU Bakersfield rounded out the group with a 3.26.
Of those schools, California Baptist, CSU Bakersfield, UT Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley also received the award on their men's side.
