TicketSmarter WAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week Announced
DENVER – Northern Colorado's Madelyn Moore has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 4 through Jan. 10.
Moore, a junior from Sandys, Bermuda, earned five first-place finishes and one second-place finish as she helped the Bears take down Air Force, Colorado Mesa and Colorado Mines this weekend. Moore took home individual wins in both the 100 freestyle (50.14 seconds) and 50 free (23.00), both times being the fastest in the WAC this year. She also led her team to victory in the 200 free relay (1:33.72), 400 free relay (3:27.00) and 200 medley relay (1:43.25). Moore's lone second-place finish came as she and her teammates were out touched in the 400 medley relay (3:50.66)
Other swimmer nominated: Seattle U's Alexa Hoeper finished the weekend as the only Redhawk to earn multiple first-place finishes as she collected wins in the 100 back (1:01.63) and 200 back (2:13.78).
