TicketSmarter WAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Announced
DENVER – California Baptist's Gorjok Gak has been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 18 through January 24.
Gak, a graduate center from Sydney, Australia, led the Lancers to a home win on Saturday against Long Beach State, scoring 26 points to go with 16 rebounds with four assists and a pair of blocks. Earlier in the week, he scored nine points with three rebounds and two blocks in just 18 minutes against San Diego Christian. On the season, he is averaging 13.5 points per game and is second in the WAC in rebounding at 10.6 per game. His .622 field goal percentage ranks third and his 1.6 blocks per game rank second.
Other nominees included: Dixie State's Cameron Gooden averaged 18.0 points per game and was 10-for-10 on free throws as the Trailblazers dropped two at home to GCU … Grand Canyon's Asbjørn Midtgaard shot .846 on the week, averaging 16.0 points per game, with 9.5 rebounds per game as the Lopes swept Dixie State on the road … Utah Valley's Trey Woodbury scored 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting as the Wolverines fell at St. John's on Saturday.
