Changes Made to Women's Basketball Schedule
DENVER – It was announced Tuesday that there have been several changes made to the WAC women's basketball schedule. Changes include adjustments to the schedules of California Baptist, Chicago State, Grand Canyon, Seattle U, Tarleton, UT Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley.
Firstly, the series of women's basketball games between California Baptist and UT Rio Grande Valley has been rescheduled. Originally, the Vaqueros were set to host the Lancers on Friday, Feb. 12, with the second half of the back-to-back set for Saturday, Feb. 13 in Edinburg, Texas. The games are now set to be played this upcoming weekend on Friday, Jan. 29, and Saturday, Jan. 30 with both games set to tip off at 1 p.m. CT.
Additionally, the Vaqueros have added a matchup with fellow conference member, Tarleton, this Wednesday, Jan. 27. Although both schools are WAC members, this competition will be played as a non-conference game as the two teams are still set to meet during the final week of conference play. Wednesday's meeting will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
Game times for this weekend's matchup between Chicago State and Seattle U have also been adjusted. The Cougars and Redhawks were originally scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT tip for both contests however, both games have been moved up one hour and will now start at 2 p.m. CT.
Due to WAC and NCAA COVID protocols, Tarleton's matchup with Utah Valley has been postponed. The Texans were originally scheduled to host the Wolverines on Friday, Jan. 29, and Saturday, Jan. 30.
The games between Tarleton and Utah Valley are not currently set to be made up but could be if the two teams find themselves with a common off week in the future. Conference standings and seeding for the 2021 Hercules Tires WAC Basketball Tournament will be based on a formula that considers both winning percentage and the percentage of games played.
It was also announced that the scheduled pair of games between Tarleton and Grand Canyon have been affected as the two teams have rescheduled for an earlier date. Initially, the Lopes were set to host the Texans in Phoenix on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10. The games have now been moved to Feb. 1 and Feb. 2 with both games scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. MT.
Jan. 28 Update - Due to WAC and NCAA COVID protocols, the previously mentioned games between UT Rio Grande Valley and California Baptist has been cancelled. Upon rescheduling, the Vaqueros were set to host the Lancers on Friday, Jan. 29, with the second half of the back-to-back set for Saturday, Jan. 30 in Edinburg, Texas.
