GRAND CANYON
After seeing No. 20 Arizona State last week, the GCU women's schedule didn't get any easier as they took on a tough Arizona squad at home, falling 2-5. The Lopes did pick up their first two singles wins behind performances from Natasha Puehse at No. 1 and Jana Weiss at No. 3. Puehse controlled her opponent from the start, defeating Talya Zandberg in straight sets (6-2, 6-2). Weiss' match was the final contest to finish as she battled with the Wildcats' Khim Iglupas for a nearly two-hour long match. Ultimately, Weiss proved tough as she took earned the nod behind a 10-point tiebreaker, winning 7-5,5-7 1-0 (10-4).
 
TARLETON
The Texans competed in a doubleheader against future WAC member Sam Houston State, dropping the first match 0-5 before fighting to a 3-4 loss the second time around. The bright spot for the Texans came in the second match as they collected a pair of doubles wins and added two singles wins. Celia Vaudiau and Rose Watanabe teamed up at No. 2 to take down Sam Houston's Constandena Nicolau and Andrijana Brkic, 7-6 (4-0). Teammates Mihaela Codreanu and Jemi Aguilar also tallied a doubles win as they defeated Sahaja Yamalapalli and Isidora Zivkovic, 6-1. 
 
In singles, Martha Makantasi and Vaudiau earned wins in the No. 3 and No. 5 flights, respectively. After a hard-fought first set, Makantasi outlasted Karla Montalvo to win 7-5, 6-2. Vaudiau added to her impressive day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over the Bearkats' Andrijana Brkic.
 
DIXIE STATE
The Trailblazers opened up their 2021 campaign last week they traveled to Flagstaff, Ariz. for a doubleheader with Northern Arizona. Despite plenty of growth throughout the day, Dixie State fell to the Lumberjacks 0-7 in both matches. In singles action, a trio of Trailblazer women pushed their matches to tiebreakers in the first match. Kyra Harames fell behind in set one but managed to win set two before playing to a 7-10 loss in the tiebreaker at No. 1. Emma Templeman had a similar fate as she dropped set one (4-6), but earned the win in the second set (6-4) to force her opponent to a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, Templeman fell 6-10. 
 
In the second match of the day, Rachel Mellor showed promise as she forced her match into a tiebreaker. Nothing came easy as Mellor won the first set (7-5), dropped set two (4-6) and battled in the tiebreaker before falling 6-10.
