ST. GEORGE - Dixie State University Athletics announced on Tuesday that the Trailblazer Women's Basketball program will not play the remainder of its 2020-21 season and is suspending all women's basketball competition related activities for the remainder of the season.

Athletic Department officials stated that the decision was made with the overall health and wellness of the student-athletes and program in mind.

"While we are disappointed with this for our women's basketball program and its coaches and student-athletes, it is 100% the right call," said Athletic Director Jason Boothe. "We have kept the safety and well-being as the top priority for our student-athletes throughout the pandemic and given the issues this team is facing, this decision is right in line with that top priority.  Once we get through the pandemic and all the issues it causes for everyone involved, we look forward to having the team back in action next school year."

The Trailblazers, who saw five of their eight non-conference games canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic played to an overall 1-2 record highlighted by an 81-52 victory in their belated season opener over Park University back on December 12.
