TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Grand Canyon's Alonso Carazo Barbero has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer the Week, respectively, for Oct. 6 through 11.
 
Carazo Barbero, a senior from Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain, led the Lopes with two first place finishes. He started his individual win in the 1000 freestyle (9:34.74) clocking 55th place in the current national top times according to CollegeSwimming. He then proceeds to win the 200 breastroke (2:04.02) currently top 46 in the nation according to CollegeSwimming. Carazo Barbero closed his individual run with a close runner up finish in the 200 IM (1:51.40) a second away from adding his third win of the meet.
 
Other swimmer nominee: Seattle U's Will Corona was part of the Redhawks' four relays that finished top five. Third place in the 200 medley relay (1:37.30) and 300 backstroke relay (2:47), second place in the 600 freestyle relay (5:20) and fourth in the 300 medley relay (2:50.38).
