DENVER – Grand Canyon's Jack Armstrong and California Baptist's Evan Honer has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 20 through 25.
 
Armstrong, a sophomore from Manvel, Texas, clocked the fastest 50 freestyle time (19.47) in the nation according to SwimCloud when swimming the first leg of Grand Canyon's winning 200 freestyle relay in the second day of their dual meet against Seattle U, Saturday. He also picked up a total of four individual wins in the two-day back-to-back dual meets. 50 freestyle (19.84) and the 100 butterfly (47.79) on Friday, and 100 freestyle (43.30) where he clocked a fourth ranked national time according to SwimCloud and the 200 freestyle (1:38.90) on Saturday.
 
Honer, a junior from Surprise, Ariz., swept all four event on the Lancers' two dual meets this past week. He opened the week with a win in the 1-meter (355.28) and 3-meter (357.83) on their dual meet against San Diego and Seattle U, Thursday. Then to end the week Honer won and improved his 1-meter score (358.15) and did the same in the 3-meter (364.20) against UNLV, Saturday.
 
Other swimmer nominee: Air Force's Wen Zhang picked two individual wins in the 500 freestyle (4:34.87) and 200 freestyle (1:37.16). He also picked up two relay wins in the 400 freestyle relay (2:58.91) and 200 freestyle relay (1:21.10) on their quad-meet against LSU, Wyoming and Denver, Saturday ... California Baptist's Remi Fabiani displayed a strong collegiate debut winning the 200 freestyle (1:42.90) and 50 freestyle (20.44) in the Lancer's tri-meet against San Diego and Seattle U, Thursday. Then finishing the week with two more wins in the 50 freestyle (20.48) and 100 freestyle (45.05) on their second tri-meet against Pomona Pitzer and UNLV, Saturday ... Seattle U's Michael Luna led the Redhawks in their three back to back meets, clocking a notable second-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:46.59) on their second day dual meet against Grand Canyon, Saturday ... UNLV's Panos Bolanos swept the backstroke events on their win over California Baptist, Saturday. He started the week with a win in the 100 backtroke ( 48.76) and then won the 200 backtroke (1:49.40) ... Wyoming's Ryan Netzel led the Cowboys with a win in the 1000 freestyle (9:54.74) and taking second in the 500 freestyle (4:41.43) in their quad meet against Air Force. Denver and LSU, Saturday.
 
Other diver nominee: Wyoming's Juan Gonzales had a strong week with a notable third-place finish in the platform (271.75) on their quad-meet against Air Force. Denver and LSU, Saturday.
