DENVER - After a competitive regular season across the board, the seedings are set for the 2021 WAC Volleyball Tournament, which will take place on Nov. 18-20 at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, N.M.
Southwest division champion Sam Houston earns the top seed after going 9-4 to win their division, including a head-to-head win over tournament host, west division champion and tournament host NM State. The Aggies went 10-4 in league play as they will chase the WAC's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament on their home court.
The third overall seed goes to Chicago State as the Cougars went 9-5 against WAC foes. UT Rio Grande Valley earns the fourth seed after finishing second in the southwest division.
The fifth seed will go to Grand Canyon while Stephen F. Austin is the sixth overall seed.
Utah Valley, who won the delayed 2020 WAC Volleyball Tournament in the spring, will be the seventh seed after going 8-6 in league play. The Wolverines will match up with NM State in the first round in a rematch of the most recent tournament championship match.
The eighth and final seed goes to Abilene Christian, who went 3-9 in WAC play, and will take on top-seed Sam Houston to open tournament action at 10 a.m. MT on Thursday.
All seven matches of the 2021 WAC Volleyball Tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN+. International viewers will have the opportunity to watch the action at wacsports.com/watch.
