WOMEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: NOV. 10-15
Grand Canyon's Aleksandra Wegrzynowska and Idaho's Emily Mack has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Nov. 10 through 15.
 
Wegrzynowska, a freshman from Wroclaw, Poland, racked up five wins across two back-to-back meets this past week. She opened the week with a win in the 1000 freestyle (10:41.83) and 200 butterfly (2:05.75), on their dual meet against Washington State, Friday. She came back the next day to win the 200 freestyle with this season's top WAC time of 1:53.14, the 500 freestyle (5:09.40) and the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:30.28 second fastest in the WAC this season. Her three wins put her as the leader in points on Saturday's win over Idaho.
 
Mack, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, contributed two wins on the Vandals' dual meet against Grand Canyon, Saturday. She opened up the week breaking the 300 point-mark in the 3-meter (303 .83) qualifying her for the NCAA zone. She then closed the week with a win in the 1-meter (262.28) contributing a total of 18 points for the Vandals.
 
MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: NOV. 10-15
UNLV's Dima Tereshchenko has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Diver of the Week for Nov. 10 through 15.
 
Tereshchenko, a freshman from East Brunswick, N.J., racked three top-three finishes this past week at the Trojan Diving Invite, Friday through Sunday. In the 3-meter he finished third in the prelims with a score of 323.55 and retains his spot in the finals scoring a total score of 652.35. In the platform, he score third in the prelims (250.20) and stayed in the finals with a total of 511.85. In the prelims of the 1-meter he placed fourth (259.10) and went up in the finals to third with a total score of 570.85.
 
OTHER ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Other women's swimmer nominee: Idaho's Ani Husaby won the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.80 that puts her third in WAC top times for this season while also clocking season bests in the 200 backstroke (2:05.07) and 100 butterfly (58.80) on Saturday's dual meet against Grand Canyon ... Seattle U's Danika Himes won the 200 backstroke with a season best time of 2:10.33 and also won the 100 breastroke on Saturday's dual meet against Puget Sound.
 
Other women's diver nominee: Grand Canyon's Abigail Erickson got two runner-up finishes in the 3-meter (294.08), with a NCAA zone qualifying score, and 1-meter (238.95) contributing a total of eight points on the Lopes' Saturday win over Idaho.
 
Other men's diver nominee: Air Force's Alex Kenyon got two top-five finishes at the Trojan Diving Invite, Friday through Sunday. He finished fourth in the 3-meter with a prelim score of 313.95 and finished fourth in the finals with a total score of 610.05 he also finished fourth in the platform (465.85).
 
Other men's diver nominee: California Baptist's Evan Honer won the 1-meter (258.23) and 3-meter (350.93) on the Lancer's win over Cal Poly, Saturday ... Wyoming's Juan Gonzales won the 1-meter (301.45) and 3-meter (323.90) on the Cowboys' win over Colorado Mesa, Friday.
 
AIR FORCE
The Falcon diver went on the road to compete at the Trojan Diving Invite at Los Angeles, Friday to Sunday.
 
Standout performance came from diver of the week nominee Kenyon with two top-five finishes. Erik Pfaffenbichler added to the collection finishing fourth in the 1-meter (505.10).
 
GRAND CANYON
The Lopes women's team went on two back-to-back dual meets this past week.
 
Their first road meet was against Washington State where they fell 74 to 126, Friday.
 
Swimmer of the week Wegrzynowska led the lopes with two individual wins.
 
Second-place individual finishes came from Maria Brunlehner in the 20 individual medley (2:07.49) and the 100 freestyle (52.15), Robyn Edwards in the 200 backstroke (2:03.59) and Briana Rittenbachin the 500 freestyle (5:19.71).
 
The next day, they travelled to pick up a win over Idaho (171-129) where they won 12 of the 16 events, Saturday.
 
IDAHO
The Vandals fell 129 to 171 when they hosted Grand Canyon on Saturday.
 
Standout performance came from diver of the week Mack as she swept both the 3-meter and 1-meter dives. Allison Shimp accompanied Mack by snagging a thrid-place finish of her own in the 1-meter (238.05).
 
First place swimming finishes came from Husaby in the 100 backstroke and Zoe Froh in the 1000 freestyle (10:48.09). 
 
SEATTLE U
The Redhawks went on the road to pick up wins over Puget Sound, Saturday.
 
The women's team won 176 to 78 as they picked up 10 out of the available 14 wins.
 
Individual wins came from Manna Nelson in the 1000 freestyle (11:12.19), Himes 100 breastroke and 200 backstroke, Sammy Mosier in the 50 freestyle (24.80) and 100 butterfly (59.90), Allison Plamondon in the 100 freestyle (55.20) and Maggie Robben in the 200 individual medley (2:14.61).
 
The ladies won both the 200 freestyle (1:27.36) and 200 medley (1:51.31) relays.
 
The men's team won 175 to 84 with individual wins from Juan Varela in the 1000 freestyle, Michael Luna in the 200 freestyle (1:45.18) and 500 freestyle (4:49.06), Ryan Ascencio in the 200 butterfly (1:58.21), Nicholas Imig in the 50 freestyle (21.13), Cole Lanting in the 100 freestyle (46.68) and 200 individual medley (1:58.63), Jack Neton in the 200 breastroke (2:12.90) and Milan Saric (52.32).
 
They closed the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.36).
