WOMEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: NOV. 17-22
Northern Colorado's Madelyn Moore and Northern Arizona's Maegan Jensen has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Nov. 17 through 21.
 
Moore, a senior from Sandys, Bermuda, racked up four wins and broke two school records at the Trailblazer Invite, Thursday to Saturday. Her first win came in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.20 breaking her previous UNC record of 22.50, her time puts her 18th in the nation according to SwimCloud. Her second win came in the 100 freestyle where she broke another of her school record with a time of 49.17. She also led off the Bears' quartets that won the 400 freestyle relay (3:41.87) and 800 freestyle relay (7:33.99).
 
Jensen, a sophomore from San Diego, Calif., finished first in the 3-meter with a NCAA zone qualifying score of 296.85 at the Lumberjack Diving Invite, Friday through Saturday. She also finished fifth in the 1-meter with another NCAA zone qualifying score of 286.10 and seventh in the platform (202.65).
 
MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: NOV. 17-22
Air Force's Wen Zhang and Wyoming's Juan Gonzales has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Nov. 17 through 21.
 
Zhang, a junior from Dothan, Ala., won the 200 freestyle against a stacked competition from Texas A&M and Southern California at the Art Adamson Invitational, Wednesday through Friday. He broke the seven-year-old WAC record of 1:33.74 with a time of 1:33.65 that puts him 12th in the nation according to SwimCloud. He also finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (43.60) and ninth in the 500 freestyle (4:22.78).
 
Gonzales, a sophomore from Medellin, Colombia, showed up and finished top five in the three events he competed in at Mizzou Invite, Wednesday through Friday. His top performance was the platform where he finished runner-up (344.50). He also finished fourth in the 1-meter (311.90) and fifth in the 3-meter (319.15).
 
OTHER ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Other women's swimmer nominee: California Baptist's Patricia Van Law had a stellar week where she renewed CBU's 400 IM record (4:17.71) in the prelims, she finished third in the 200 backstroke (1:59.18) becoming the second Lancer to swim under two minutes in the event at the Mizzou Invite, Wednesday through Friday … Dixie State's Akalia Bostock broke DSU's 400 IM record this past week with a time of 4:25.10 finishing third overall at the Trailblazer Invite, Thursday to Saturday … NM State's Lindsay Puhalski picked up a win in the 400 IM (4:21.12) and two fifth place finishes in the 200 IM (2:03.19) and 200 backstroke (2:01.97) at the Trailblazer Invite, Thursday through Saturday … Northern Arizona's Casey Craffey picked up a win in the 1650 freestyle with an altitude adjusted time of 16:35.44 that puts her 34th in the nation according to SwimCloud at the A3 Performance Invite, Thursday through Saturday.
 
Other women's diver nominee: California Baptist's Paula De Moya finished 12th in the 1-meter (227.90) and fourth in the platform (245.35) … Grand Canyon's Abigail Erickson dominantly won the platform (257.60) at the Lumberjack Diving Invite, Saturday … Northern Colorado's Madison Berg finished fifth in the 3-meter (206.65) with a career high prelim score of 226.60.
 
Other men's diver nominee: California Baptist's Remi Fabiani picked up two individual wins in the 50 freestyle (19.46) and 100 freestyle (42.83) putting him at the top of the WAC and 22nd in the nation according to SwimCloud on both events at the Mizzou Invite, Wednesday through Friday … UNLV's Panos Bolanos won the 200 backstroke with time of 1:41.18 that puts him sixth in the nation according to SwimCloud and finished runner-up in the 100 backstroke (46.85) at the Tennessee Invitationals, Thursday through Saturday …. Wyoming's Ryan Netzel finished runner-up in the 1650 freestyle (15:30.66), third in the 500 freestyle (4:26.62) and seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:39.91).
 
Other men's diver nominee: California Baptist's Evan Honer finished sixth in the 1-meter (303.10), fourth in the 3-meter (331.00) and sixth again in the platform (289.00) at the Mizzou Invite, Wednesday through Friday.
 
AIR FORCE
The Falcons wet against the top of the nation in No. 12 Southern California, No. 18 Texas A&M, Louisiana State and Texas Christian when they finished fifth overall at the Art Adamson Invite, Wednesday through Friday.
 
Swimmer of the week, Zhang, is AFA's top performer picking up their sole individual win when he broke the school's and WAC record in the 200 freestyle. Along with that, he finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (43.60).
 
Along with Zhang was Adam Grimm who placed fifth on the 200 butterly (1:46.76) and 400 IM (3:48.01) posting a school record on the latter.
 
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
The Lancers men took second and women fourth at Mizzou Invite, Wednesday through Friday.
 
Swimmer of the week nominee, Fabiani led the men's team, picking up two wins against swimmers from the number ninth ranked host, Missouri. Podium finishes also came from Jacob Leahy who finished second in the 100 freestyle (43.29) and 100 backstroke (47.76), Jonathan Reiter third in the 200 breastroke (1:56.01), and all five relays including a win in the 800 freestyle relay (6:36.26).
 
The women were led by swimmer of the week nominee Van Law who second in the 400 IM. With her was diver De Moya who finished fourth-place in the platform.
 
DIXIE STATE
DSU hosted their first invite of the season when they finsihed ninth at the Trailblazer Invite, Thursday through Saturday.
 
Bostock led the Trailblazers finishing third in the 400 IM breaking the school record in the process.
 
GRAND CANYON
The Lopes divers travelled to Northern Arizona for the Lumberjack Invite, Saturday. Diver of the week nominee, Erickson, won the platform in a dominant fashion.
 
NM STATE
The Aggies were led by Puhalski as they finished fifth at the Trailblazer Invite, Thursday through Saturday.
 
With Puhalski was Maude Boily-Dufour who took a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:59.79). The Aggies also finished third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:24.78).
 
NORTHERN COLORADO
The Bears were led by swimmer of the week, Moore, as they finished second overall at the Trailblazer Invite, Thursday through Saturday. 
 
UNC recorded multiple top-eight finishes inlcuding a notable performance from Chelaine van der Westhuizen took second in the 200 breastroke (2:16.73).
 
NORTHERN ARIZONA
The Lumberjacks split teams this past week, the swimmers competed at A3 Performance Invite while the divers hosted the Lumberjack Diving Invite.
 
They were trailing 60 points behind Colorado Mesa before coming back in the last day to finish tied at first. The team was led by Craffey who won the 1650 freestyle with teammate Helena Roble-Alvarez right on her heel giving NAU a one-two finish in the event. 
 
The divers did some winning of their own with Jensen picking up the 3-meter and Victoria Knapp the 1-meter (303.30).
 
UNLV
Newly crowned 23rd ranked UNLV finished fourth overall at the Tennessee Invitational, Thursday through Saturday.
 
The Rebels went against strong opponents such as hosts No. 13 Tennessee, No. 7 Virginia and No. 24 Alabama. Bolanos became the star Rebel as he won the 200 backstroke and finished runner-up in the 100 backstroke. Along with Bolanos was Cam Castro who placed first in the 1650 freestyle (15:04.59).
 
WYOMING
The Cowboys finished fourth in the Mizzou Invite, Wednesday through Firday.
 
Diver of the week Gonzales became the star of the team as he placed second in the platform. In swimming, Netzel also placed second in the 1650 freestyle and behind him was Maisyn Klimczak and Sage Morton finished who finished sixth (16:48.58) and eighth (16:54.66) respectively.
