TicketSmarter WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Grand Canyon's Emily Muteti and Northern Arizona's Victoria Knapp has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Dec. 8 through 12.

Muteti, a senior from Bombolulu, Kenya, collected a total of four wins on the Lopes' three-way meet against Ottawa, Northern Arizona and Arizona Christian, this past weekend. She won two in the individual events in the 50 freestyle (22.71) and 100 butterfly (54.19) breaking previous pool records on both. She swam the butterfly leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:41.17) and led off the 400 freestyle relay, both relays also broke the pool records.

Knapp, a sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., swept the diving events on the Lumberjacks' dual meet against Grand Canyon. She won the 1-meter with a score of 309.23 that tops this season's WAC score standings by 30.08 points. Knapp also won the 3-meter dive with a WAC-topping score of 326.55.

Other swimmer nominee: Northern Arizona's Casey Craffey won two individual event against Grand Canyon, Saturday. She won the 1000 freestyle (10:12.19) and the 500 freestyle (4:56.52).

Other diver nominee: Grand Canyon's Abigail Erickson finished runner-up in the 1-meter (281.70) and third in the 3-meter 279.30) against Northern Arizona, Saturday.
