TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Grand Canyon's Jack Armstrong has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for Dec. 1 through 5.

Armstorng, a sophomore from Manvel, Texas, led the lopes to winning the Miami Invitational, Thursday through Saturday. He won an individual event in the 50 freestyle with time of 19.30 that puts him 17th in the nation according to SwimCloud. Armstrong led off the Lopes' winning 200 freestyle relay (1:18.25) and closed his run with a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.63, third fastest in the WAC this season.

Other swimmer nominee: Seattle U's Cole Lanting won the 200 individual medley (1:51.55), 200 freestyle (1:42.10) and 200 freestyle relay (1:24.27) on the Redhawks' dual meet against Simon Fraser, Friday through Sunday. He clocked the third fastest 100 freestyle time in SU history on the prelims (45.20) then finishing second in the finals (45.85).
