Northern Arizona Tabbed as Favorite to Win Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship

DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference today announced its women's Swimming and Diving Pre-Championship Coaches Poll, as voted on by the eight women's head coaches in the league. Defending champion Northern Arizona was selected to take home the title for the eighth consecutive year.

Northern Arizona was picked as the favorite to win the conference championship, receiving five first-place votes and 46 points. California Baptist followed the Lumberjacks with two first-place votes and 39 points. Northern Colorado collected the remaining first-place vote to earn 38 total points and third place in the poll. NM State finished fourth as it tallied 31 points while Grand Canyon garnered 26 points, placing them in fifth. Idaho came in just behind the Lopes with 23 points for sixth and newcomer Dixie State landed in seventh as they earned 14 points. Seattle U rounded out the poll with seven points.

The 2021 Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Championships will take place at the Human Performance Center in St. George, Utah this Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 17-20. Meanwhile, the WAC Men's and Women's Diving Championships are set to take place at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz. on Feb. 25-27. The overall team champion will be announced immediately following the conclusion of the diving championships on Feb. 27.
