NM STATE
The Aggies hit the courts against someone else for the first time this year as they traveled to Las Vegas to compete with UNLV, Weber State and Montana. NM State earned a win in their final dual over Montana but fell to both UNLV and Weber State. Against UNLV, the Aggies headed into singles play with a 1-0 lead after two of their doubles teams picked up match wins. Nicolas Buitrago and Corey Clarke won their match by a score of 7-5 while Jordy Visser and Louis Menard defeated their opponents, 6-4. However, the Rebels controlled singles play, picking up wins in four flights to clinch the 4-1 win.

In play against Weber State, NM State got out to a 2-1 lead behind singles wins from Menard and Petr Stavrovskij. Menard won at the No. 2 spot (6-1, 6-2) and Stavrovskij earned a victory in flight No. 6 (6-4, 6-4). Visser and Menard also teamed up to tally their second doubles win of the weekend (6-3). Ultimately, the Aggies lost control of the lead and fell 2-4.

NM State didn't leave Vegas empty-handed though as they took down Montana, winning 4-1. There was no doubles contested against the Griz, but four of the five singles matches went the Aggies way. Menard, Buitrago, Gijs Akkermans and Clarke each outplayed their opponent to lead NM State to its first team win of the young season.

UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY
The Vaquero men also had three matches on their schedule as they came away with a 2-1 record on opening weekend. UTRGV dominated in San Antonio, picking up 7-0 wins over both Our Lady of the Lake and Howard Payne. On Sunday, Louisiana visited Edinburg and came away with the win. Against OLLU, the Vaqueros breezed past the Saints as they did not drop a single set. Luka Jankovic and Zane Kohrs got things started with a quick 6-0 win followed by a 6-1 win from Carlo Izurieta and Mateo Schmit. Jankovic dominated in singles as well, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win.

In their second match, the Vaqueros took out Howard Payne (7-0) for their second sweep of the day. Once again, Jankovic and Kohrs controlled their doubles match, winning 6-0. Te Kani Williams and Alberto Mello pulled out a tough one as they pushed past their opponents for a 6-4 win. Mello, Kohrs, Jankovic and Izurieta all handled business in singles with each winning by the identical score of 6-0, 6-0.

The Vaqueros drew a tough matchup for their home opener as Louisiana came away with the win. Williams was the lone victor as he battled to a three-set win over Oriol Fillat Gimenez. Williams dropped the first set 4-6 but went onto win the second set 6-3 and walked away with the win after taking the tiebreaker 11-9.
