Ticketsmarter WAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – UT Rio Grande Valley's Tamara Woodley and Desirea Buerge has been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 1 through March 7.

Woodley, a sophomore from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, posted the sixth-best 400m run in program history, taking sixth at the Longhorn Invitational with a time of 54.49, and was part of the eighth-fastest 4x400m relay team, who won the event with a time of 3:50.73.

Buerge, a graduate student from Webb City, Mo., took second in the discus at the Longhorn Invitational with a mark of 52.17m. She also earned a top-five finish in the shot put, placing fifth with a throw of 14.74m.

Other field nominees: Utah Valley's Savannah Routsong took third in the hammer and shot put and eighth in the discus at the UNLV Spring Opener.
