Bracket Set for 2020-21 WAC Men's Soccer Tournament

DENVER – For the first time in program history, Grand Canyon will be the top seed for the WAC Men's Soccer Tournament, beginning on Tuesday morning at Peter Johan Memorial Field in Las Vegas. 

The Lopes earn the top seed after scoring a pair of second half goals to defeat UNLV on Saturday night to finish the regular season with a 7-0-0 record. Maximilian Moeller and Justin Rasmussen have five goals each for GCU while keeper George Tassouris holds a 0.86 GAA heading into the tournament.

The second seed goes to UTRGV, who is led offensively by William Akio, who scored seven goals with a pair of assists. Junior Trevor Schneider has been strong in net, allowing eight goals with three shutouts for a 0.84 goals against average.

San José State earns the third seed, posting a record of 5-1-2 in WAC play. The Spartans are led by the three-headed monster of Willy Miranda, Nicolas Brenes and Rudi Castro on offense, who have combined for six goals and 16 assists. Sophomore David Sweeney holds a 1.19 GAA in over 680 minutes played.

Host UNLV will be the fourth seed. Bailey Letherman leads the Rebels on offense with three goals and three assists. Sophomore keeper Miguel Duenas Jr. posted five shutouts in eight matches played.

Seattle U, the defending tournament champion, will be the fifth seed and will play UNLV in the tournament opener on Tuesday at 11 a.m. PT. The Redhawks have four goals each from Habib Barry and Noe Meza. Junior Akili Kasim has seen the majority of time in net, holding a 1.11 GA with a WAC-best 39 saves.

Air Force will be the final team in the tournament field and will take on San José State on Tuesday at approximately 2:30 p.m. PT. The Falcons are lead offensively by Thaddeaus Dewing and Michael Neacsu, who each have three goals on the season. Kainoa Likewise has seen the majority of time in net, allowing 11 goals in 822:44 for a 1.20 GAA.

All games from Las Vegas will be carried live on ESPN+ within the United States and on the WAC Digital Network for international viewers.
