TicketSmarter WAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – Utah Valley's Hannah Branch and NM State's Dascha Robinson have been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 26 through May 2.
Branch, a junior from Draper, Utah, takes honors for the second straight week after winning the 10,000m run at the Oregon State High Performance Meet. Her time of 33:49.90 set a new UVU record and is also the fastest in the WAC this season by nearly a minute. She ranked 25th nationally in the event with just a few weeks left to qualify for NCAA Regionals.
Robinson, a freshman from Miami, set a new WAC season-best in the triple jump, taking second at the Desert Heat Classic with a leap of 13.32m. The mark is over a meter further than anyone else in the WAC this year and ranks 13th nationally. She also placed 13th in the long jump (5.63m).
Other track nominees: California Baptist's Elin Brink ran the second-fastest 5000m in the WAC this season, taking 10th at the West Coast Relays with a time of 16:37.86 … Grand Canyon's Alexa Hokanson took fourth in the 800m run at the Desert Heat Classic with a time of 2:07.27 … NM State's Asjah Wallace finished in fourth in both the 100m hurdles (13.85) and 4x400m relay (3:45.68) at the Desert Heat Classic.
Other field nominees: Grand Canyon's Madelyn Lundberg placed third in the pole vault at the Desert Heat Classic, clearing 4.00m.
