UVU's Lysen, NM State Headed to NCAA Men's Golf Regionals

INDIANAPOLIS - Still riding the high of winning WAC Championships on Sunday at Boulder Creek Golf Club, both NM State and Utah Valley's Gabe Lysen learned their NCAA Regional fates on Wednesday.

The Aggies, who won the 2021 title by a single stroke over Grand Canyon, are headed up the road to Albuquerque, competing as the 12th seed at the Championship Course at UNM on May 17-19. Oklahoma will be the top seed in the regional, with Arizona State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and host New Mexico rounding out the top 5.

Lysen, who also posted a one-stroke win at the 2021 WAC Men's Golf Championship, is headed north and to the west for the Cle Elum Regional at Tumble Creek Golf and Country Club in Cle Elum, Wash. He is one of five individuals that are headed to the Pacific Northwest, where he will be joined by BYU's Carson Lundell, Santa Clara's Matt McCarty, UNLV's Jack Trent and Southern Utah's Jake Vincent.

At the conclusion of the three-day regionals, the five lowest-shooting teams at each site and the lowest-shooting individual not from that group of five teams will move on to the NCAA Championships which will take place at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., from Friday, May 28 through Wednesday, June 2.
