DENVER – Sam Houston's Zulaikah Nasser has been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for September 1 through September 6.

Nasser, a sophomore from Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, won the individual title at the USA Intercollegiate, hosted by South Alabama to earn the first honors of the season. She finished the 54-hole tournament with a school-record tying score of 15-under-par 201. After going 4-under-par in the opening round, she added a 6-under-par 66 and 5-under-par 67 to her totals to bring home the win. As a team, the Bearkats also made history, smashing their previous 54-hole record by 32 strokes, shooting a 31-under-par 833 to win the tournament by 19 strokes over second-place South Florida.

Other nominees: Lamar's Stephanie Banach led the Cardinals in their season-opening tournament, shooting a 7-over-par 223 at the USA Intercollege in Mobile, Ala.
