DENVER – Grand Canyon's Atena Rayson and Abilene Christian's Ella Anttila have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 12 through 16.

Rayson, a freshman from Montego Bay, Jamaica, finished first in the 60 meters dash at the Friday Night Axe 'Em, Friday. She left her competition with a 0.3 second gap marking a season best time of 7.37, fastest in the WAC this season.

Anttila, a senior from Helsinki, Finland, placed first in the triple jump at the Texas Tech Corky Classic, Friday. She marked a season best record with 12.55m (42' 2.25") placing her first in the WAC season rankings and 19th in the NCAA according to TFRRS Qualifying List.

 Lamar's Faith Outing finished second in the 400 meters (56.54) at the Ted Nelson Invitational, Friday ... NM State's Jhana Downie placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.89, second fastest in the WAC this season … Seattle U's Rowan Cuadrado finished 26th in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:31.5 at the UW Indoor Preview, Saturday … Tarleton's Nyla Barlow finished eighth in the 200 meters (25.34) at the Texas Tech Corky Classic, Friday.
 
Other field nominees: Grand Canyon's Amanda Thrue led the long jump event with a 5.62m (18' 5.25") mark at the Friday Night Axe 'Em … Lamar's Arajanee Jackson finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 1.94m at the Ted Nelson Invitational …. NM State's Makiya Moore placed seventh in weight throw marking 17.00m (55' 9.25") and 15th in shot put with a 11.88m (38' 11.75") mark at the Texas Tech Corky Classic … Tarleton's Rylee Hennig placed third high jump marking 11.70m (5' 7") putting her 68th in the NCAA according to the TFRRS Qualifying List.
