TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Tennis Players of the Week Announced
DENVER – Grand Canyon's Freddie Grant was named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference singles Player of the Week with the Chicago State tandem of Pedro Alvarez and Javier Sanchez-Pradillo earning TicketSmarter doubles Team of the Week.
Grant posted a pair of victories as Grand Canyon matched-up against Creighton and Air Force. The graduate student started the trip with a hard fought 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6), 7-5 win against the Blue Jays Matthew Lanahan at the No. 3 singles slot on Saturday. The following day he recorded a straight sets win (6-4, 6-1) against the Falcons Nick Vroman.
The duo of Alvarez and Sanchez-Pradill prevailed in a big way as the Cougars posted a significant team victory against Marquette. Despite trailing in the third doubles match, they rallied by winning the final five games to notch a 6-4 victory and secure the doubles point en route to Chicago State's 4-3 team win.
