TicketSmarter WAC Volleyball Players Of The Week Announced
DENVER –Stephen F. Austin’s Ariana Pagan and Izabella Ortiz have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Offensive andD efensive Players of the Week. Tarleton’s Breanna McDonough has been named the TicketSmarter WAC Freshman Player of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Pagan, a senior outside hitter, currently has a nine-game streak of double-digit kills. Pagan tied her season high against Grand Canyon and California Baptist with 15 kills. Pagan also recorded her seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season last week against GCU(15 kills, 11 digs) and CBU (15 kills, 12digs). Pagan finished the week with a .421 hitting percentage.
Ortiz, a freshman middle blocker, averaged 2.00 kills per set along with 2.93 points per set over the weekend. Ortiz recorded nine blocks in her team’s two matches last week including two solo blocks during that stretch. Ortiz closed out the week of play with a .476 hitting percentage.
McDonough, a right side, had 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .500 along with two blocks and five digs in Tarleton's win over Utah Tech. On Saturday vs. Southern Utah, McDonough finished with a career-high 14 kills with a .357 hitting percentage, along with two solo blocks and four digs. McDonough helped Tarleton earn its first two conference wins of the season.
