2022-23 WAC Basketball on ESPN
ARLINGTON, Texas – Select Western Athletic Conference (WAC) men’s basketball games will appear on the ESPN linear family of networks this season.
On Friday, February 17, Abilene Christian visits Grand Canyon for a game that will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Tip time will be 9 pm MST.
Then on Sunday, February 26, California Baptist will travel to Stephen F. Austin for a 6 pm CST start. That game is also being broadcast on ESPNU.
This marks the first-time multiple WAC regular season games will air on ESPN linear platforms in more than a decade.
In addition, WAC Men’s Basketball Media Day will be live on ESPN+ on Tuesday, October 18 starting at 9 am CDT. WAC Assistant Director, Digital Communications/Reporter Kendra Sheehan will host along with Mike O’Donnell, a national college basketball analyst for ESPN and CBS. All 13 schools and WAC Commissioner Brian Thornton will be interviewed during the media day sessions.
On Wednesday, October 19, WAC Women’s Basketball Media Day will be broadcast live on ESPN+, also starting at 9 am CDT. Sheehan will be joined by Kelly Burke, a national analyst for ESPN and CBS. Likewise, all 13 WAC schools will participate with sessions will concluding at 2:45 pm CDT.
Nearly 400 WAC men’s and women’s basketball games are scheduled to appear on ESPN+ this season with the regular season getting underway on Tuesday, November 7.
The WAC Basketball Tournament will also be broadcast live on ESPN+, March 6-10 from the Michelob Ultra Arena and Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The men’s and women’s championship games are set to be produced by ESPN on March 11 and will appear on their family of networks.
The WAC is now in the second year of a multi-year, multi-platform media rights agreement with ESPN. Nearly all WAC championship events have been streamed on ESPN+ since the launch of the platform in 2018.
In May 1995, the WAC became the first conference in the country to have an exclusive contract with ESPN for football and basketball games.
