UTRGV GETS SEASON SWEEP OF NM STATE
UTRGV captured a five-set victory over NM State last week. That win marked the first time in program history that it has swept the defending WAC champions in a single season. The Vaqueros moved back into the top five in the NCAA in victories alongside Towson (18-0), Stephen F. Austin (17-2), Valparaiso (17-2), and Western Kentucky (17-2).
SFA ON FOUR-GAME CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK
Stephen F. Austin beat California Baptist in three straight sets to capture its fourth consecutive WAC victory. Ariana Pagan led the offensive effort for SFA with 15 kills and recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 12 digs.
UTAH VALLEY TOPS SEATTLE U
Utah Valley improved to 3-1 in conference play with a three-set sweep over Seattle U. The Wolverines had a season-high .366 hitting percentage in the contest. Kazna Tanuvasa recorded her first double-double on the year with 12 kills and 10 digs. Natalie Palmer had her second double-double of the season with 13 assists and 11 digs.
GCU BEATS UTA IN FOUR
Grand Canyon prevailed over UT Arlington in four sets last week. Three Lopes finished the contest with double-double performances. Melanie Brecka hit .289 with 17 kills and ten digs for 18.5 points, while Ashley Lifgren, a junior, hit .250 with 15 kills and ten digs for 18 points. Klaire Mitchell put up 52 assists, her second highest total of the season, and 18 digs, one shy of her season high.
SEVEN TEAMS ABOVE .500 IN WAC PLAY
Seven WAC members have a winning percentage above .500. UTRGV leads the way with a perfect conference record followed by Stephen F. Austin at .833 and Utah Valley .750. UT Arlington and Grand Canyon both sit at .600 with NM State and Sam Houston holding on to a .500 winning percentage.
