TicketSmarter WAC Cross Country Athletes Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Said Mechaal and Yasna Petrova have been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Mechaal, a sophomore, was the top finisher for CBU during a second-place team showing at the Weis-Crockett Invitational on Oct. 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Lancers, who ascended to No. 25 in the national after the runner-up finish, fell just one point short of meet winner and No. 21 Montana State. Said placed sixth individually (fifth collegiate finisher) in the men’s 8K with a time of 23:39.2, logging an average mile of 4:45.5.
Petrova, a sophomore, was the top finisher for team winner CBU on the women’s side at the Weis-Crockett Invitational on Oct. 15. The No. 14 Lancers scored 50 points to best runner-up and meet host No. 3 Oklahoma State. Petrova was the individual runner-up in the women’s 6K with a time of 20:22.3, at an average mile split of 5:27.8, to pace CBU.
