UTRGV REMAINS UNBEATEN
UTRGV remained unbeaten and at the top of the conference standings following a 3-0 victory over California Baptist last week. Sarah Cruz is currently ranked sixth nationally in total points (438) along with total kills (383). As a team UTRGV is ranked 19th nationally in team assists.
UTAH VALLEY TOPS SOUTHERN UTAH 3-1
Utah Valley had double-double performances by Avery Shewell (14 points, 10 digs) and Kazna Tanuvasa (11 digs, 10 points) along with a 15-kill performance from Tori Dorius and 12 from Kalea Kennedy. The Wolverines improved to 7-1 in WAC play.
SFA BEATS SAM HOUSTON IN FOUR
Izabella Ortiz had a stellar performance with a career-high 17 kills as well as two blocks. Payton Cerny and Ielan Bradley joined Ortiz in the scoring attack with 16 and 14 kills, respectively. Ariana Pagan recorded her ninth double-double of the season with and 18 digs and 10 kills. Jayden Flynn had 31 assists, while Maddy Bourque recorded 23. Haley Hoang once again led the team in digs with 20, followed by Pagan’s 18.
UT ARLINGTON GOES THE DISTANCE WITH ACU
Three Mavericks finished the match with at least 10 kills, including Briana Brown and Brooke Townsend with 11 a piece. Mollie Blank (24) and Sophie Skinner (23) had a combined 47 assists. The Mavericks put up a massive number of blocks against the Wildcats, with Meredith Fisher and Kortney Puckett recording five blocks each while the team totaled 19 overall.
GRAND CANYON SWEEPS NM STATE
Grand Canyon jumped New Mexico State in the WAC standings by sweeping the Aggies for the first time with a dominant 3-0 win last week. The Lopes are 6-0 this season when hitting at least .275. Strong performances from Ashley Lifgren (15 kills, 12 digs, .351 hitting), Tatum Parrott (13 kills, nine digs, .394 hitting) and graduate Melanie Brecka (10 kills, .370 hitting) helped lead the Lopes to victory.
