DENVER – San José State’s Beau Leroux and Houston Christian’s Alex Aitken have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, for the match week ending on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Leroux, a sophomore midfielder, was the top scorer in the WAC during a 1-0-1 week for San José State, tallying three of the four Spartan goals over both matches. Leroux scored the opening goal in the 15th minute, one of his six shots in the contest, to spearhead a 1-1 draw with Houston Christian on Sept. 30. Leroux found the back of the net for the match-winner at 15:04 and chipped in an insurance goal at 78:37 to power San José State past UTRGV 3-0 on Oct. 2.

Aitken, a freshman goalkeeper, led the conference with a .909 save percentage and 10 total saves as part of a 1-0-1 team showing for Houston Christian. Aitken turned in seven saves, including four in the second half, to keep the Huskies in the match and lead to the 1-1 draw with San José State on Sept. 30. Aitken stopped three shots on goal, with all saves occurring over the final 45 minutes of a well-earned 2-0 solo clean sheet at Seattle U on Oct. 2.
