Western Athletic Conference Statement On Sam Houston-Stephen F. Austin Football Game From Oct. 1
As standard process for all games involving Western Athletic Conference institutions, a significant and in-depth review of game operations is conducted. After a thorough review of the Sam Houston-Stephen F. Austin football game on October 1, 2022, league officials determined that a misadministration of a personal foul for a hit on a defenseless player occurred late in the contest.
The health and safety of student-athletes are the top priorities of this conference, and game officials will continue to work hard to protect student-athletes and place them in the best position to perform. Additional education and training have taken place to mitigate future occurrences.
