TicketSmarter WAC Volleyball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s Whittnee Nihipali, UT Arlington’s Mollie Blank and Grand Canyon’s Tatum Parrott have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Offensive, Defensive and Freshman Players of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Nihipali, a senior outside hitter, put up outstanding offensive numbers in the final week of regular season action. Nihipali averaged 5.46 kills per set and had 46 total kills, 127 attacks with only 11 errors for a .267 hitting percentage. Nihipali put up double figure kills in both matches with a double-double against UTA with 33 kills and 10 digs. Her 33 digs are the second most in a single match in the WAC this season and is a new Utah Tech record. Against UTA, Nihipali ended the match with a .337 hitting percentage from 83 attacks. Against SFA, Nihipali ended the match with 13 kills.
Blank, a sophomore setter, in 10 sets of play, Blank had 50 assists, 39 digs and nine kills averaging 5 assists, 3.9 digs and 0.9 kills per set. Blank registered a pair of double-doubles, including 29 assists and a career-high 27 digs plus three kills against Utah Tech. Blank followed that up with 21 assists, 12 digs and six kills against Southern Utah and hit .500 over her nine kills.
Parrott, an outside hitter, has now been named freshman of the week for three straight weeks. Parrott had 18 kills averaging 3.60 per set and hit a .298 in five sets with four service aces. Parrott also had nine digs, for a total of 22.5 points, 4.50 per set.
