Utah Valley’s Kemboi Earns All-America Honors To Lead WAC At 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – Reigning Western Athletic Conference (WAC) 6K Champion Everlyn Kemboi from Utah Valley was the top finisher for the conference at the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course at Oklahoma State. Utah Valley and California Baptist qualified for the women’s 6K team championship draw, while Abilene Christian’s Irene Rono competed as an unattached individual.
Kemboi crossed the finish line with a time of 19:59.7 to finish in 19th place and capture All-America honors. Kemboi is believed to be the WAC’s first top-25 individual finisher at the NCAA Championships since the 2014 national meet. Kemboi’s performance guided Utah Valley to 26th place as a team with 548 points. CBU placed 29th with 659 points, led by Yasna Petrova in 77th individually with a time of 20:28.6.
ACU’s Rono placed 110th in the field with a 6K championship time of 20:41.9.
