SEATTLE, Washington – The three-seed NM State opened the 2022 edition of the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer tournament with a 1-0 victory over sixth-seed California Baptist at Championship Field Stadium in Seattle, Washington on campus of Seattle U. 

NM State advanced to face the tournament host, Seattle U who entered as the number two-seed on Friday, November 4 at 4 p.m. CST, and will be streamed on ESPN+. 

After 90 minutes of action, the two teams were tied at zero and they headed to overtime. Just seven minutes into overtime, NM State’s Sofia Beerworth found the back of the net to give the Aggies the lead and the victory as they held the Lancers off to close the match. 

The second match of the day featured the fourth-seed Utah Tech against the fifth-seed Grand Canyon. The Lopes walked away with a 3-0 victory to advance to the semifinals to face number one-seed Utah Valley on Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. CST and on ESPN+.  

Grand Canyon had two long shot goals by midfielders Leah Pirro and Ani Jensen in the first half and junior forward Gianna Gourley provided the exclamation point with her 28th career goal and 18th goal of the season.
