TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Basketball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – UTRGV’s Justin Johnson and Adante’ Holiman have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Johnson, a senior forward, claimed his second conference player of the week award of the season after erupting for UTRGV in a 2-0 nonconference week. Johnson averaged 30.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the Vaqueros on 58.8 percent shooting, adding 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per contest to the stat line. Johnson tallied 31 points, 11 boards and four assists for UTRGV in a win against Southwestern Christian on Dec. 15 before following up with 29 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals at home against Houston Christian on Dec. 18.
Holiman, a guard, earned top freshman honors for the second time after logging 6.0 points and 6.5 assists per game for UTRGV, adding in 2.0 steals for the week. Holiman scored seven points and chipped in eight assists for the Vaqueros on Dec. 15 and contributed five points, five assists and three steals to the cause against Houston Christian on Dec. 18.
