TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Basketball Players Of The Week Announced
ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Trey Woodbury and Sam Houston’s Anthony Wrzeszcz have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Freshman of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 25.
Woodbury, a senior guard, was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week after a standout performance for Utah Valley in a 77-72 win at Oregon on Dec. 20. Woodbury led the Wolverines with 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting, which included a 3-for-4 effort on 3-point attempts, to go along with nine rebounds, six assists and three steals over 37 minutes of game play. Utah Valley raced out to a 41-24 halftime lead and held on in the second half for the key nonconference victory.
Wrzeszcz, a guard, enjoyed an efficient shooting performance in a home win for Sam Houston against Arlington Baptist on Dec. 20. Wrzeszcz played a career-high 22 minutes for the Bearkats as a reserve and scored a career-best 11 points after hitting 3-of-4 attempts from beyond the arc and both of his attempts from the free-throw line. Wrzeszcz chipped in two assists in the win.
