DENVER – California Baptist's Giulia Decataldo and NM State's Italia Aranzabal has been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 26 through 30.
Decataldo, a freshman from Milan, Italy, took charge of the distance events at the Lancers' travel dual meet at UC San Diego, Saturday. She won the 500 freestyle (5:02.92) and the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:16.26, top-five in the WAC this season.
Aranzabal, a junior from Mexico City, Mexico, went two for two in the Aggies' win over New Mexico, Saturday. She won the 1-meter with a score of 277.35 and the 3-meter with 305.40, both are NCAA Zone Qualifying scores.
Other swimmer nominee: Dixie State's Paulina Sansore contributed wins in the 1000 freestyle (10:33.58), 500 freestyle (5:11.43) and 200 individual medley (2:10.39) in the Trailblazers' win over Idaho, Saturday … Idaho's Kaling Phung won the 200 backstroke (2:07.59), 100 butterfly (59.21) and 100 backstroke (57.35) in the Vandals' dual meet against Dixie State … NM State's Lindsay Puhalski won the 200 freestyle (1:53.44), 200 backstroke (2:04.38) and 200 individual medley (2:07.00) in the Aggies' win over New Mexico … Seatle U's Sammy Mosier won the 50 freestyle (23.98) and 100 butterfly (57.36) in the Redhawks' dual meet against Whitworth, Friday.
Other diver nominee: California Baptist's Paula De Moya won the 1-meter (273.35) and 3-meter (257.01) in their dual meet against UC San Diego.
