DENVER - After winning two team matches during a three-match road swing through Idaho and eastern Washington, Seattle U swept the Western Athletic Conference men’s tennis Athlete of the Week awards. Filip Stipic was named the singles Player of the Week while his Redhawk teammates, Veselin Kiselkov and Julian Worn, were recognized as the doubles Team of the Week.

Stipic only dropped one set in his three matches. He began the stretch with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Lewis-Clark State’s Itaru Kikuchi at the No. 2 position on Friday evening. The next day he recorded a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 win over Idaho’s Bruno Casino in the second singles spot. He closed the weekend with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Wout Doumen of Eastern Washington at the first singles slot.

Kiselkov and Worn were triumphant as well in all three of their contests. The duo started the weekend by recording a 6-2 win over Cade Edwards and Kikuchi from Lewis-Clark State at the No. 1 match. Just 24 hours later, they tallied a 7-5 victory against the top duo of Francisco Bascon and Casino of Idaho. They completed their perfect weekend in the No. 1 doubles position by topping Erik Sarlvik and Doumen of Eastern Washington 6-4.

As a team the Redhawks beat Lewis-Clark State 7-0 then bookended their weekend with a 4-1 victory over Eastern Washington.
