Three WAC Hoopsters Earn Academic All-District Honors
DENVER - A pair of WAC men's basketball players and a lone women's basketball player have been honored for their success in the classroom as well as on the hardwood as UT Rio Grande Valley's Marek Nelson, Dixie State's Hunter Schofield and California Baptist's Caitlyn Harper have been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Nelson, a graduate student working on an advanced degree in business administration, boasts a graduate GPA of 4.00 to be one of six honored in District 7.
Schofield, a senior majoring in exercise science, holds a 3.94 grade-point average to earn a spot in District 8.
Harper holds a perfect 4.00 GPA as a senior accounting major.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.
