WAC Announces Swimming & Diving Pre-Championship Coaches Poll
DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced its women's and men's swimming and diving Pre-Championship Coaches Polls, as voted by the eight women's head coaches and six men's head coaches in the league. Northern Arizona and UNLV are favorites to win the women's and men's championships, respectively.
Northern Arizona came out as favorites to win their ninth consecutive championship with 49 points and seven first-place votes. NM State Aggies are picked second with one first-place vote and 39 points. Northern Colorado has one point less in third. Grand Canyon garnered 33 points to get picked fourth and California Baptist placed fifth with 25 points. Idaho got picked sixth with 18 points while Dixie State is picked seventh with 15 points. Seattle U got the remaining seven points.
On the men's side, UNLV Rebels are favorites to win their second consecutive championship after collecting five first-place votes and 25 points. Grand Canyon Lopes were picked second with one first-place vote and 18 points. Air Force and California Baptist are tied in third, both with 16 points. Wyoming placed fifth with 10 points and Seattle U round up the polls with five.
The 2022 Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championship will take place at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas this Wednesday through Saturday, February 23 to 26.
