Grand Canyon, California Baptist Earn WNIT Invitation

FORT COLLINS, CO – The Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball tandem of California Baptist and Grand Canyon have earned a spot into the WNIT field of 64.

It is the first time since the 2011 season, the WAC is sending three women’s basketball teams to the NCAA postseason.  Stephen F. Austin earned the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Grand Canyon finished as the league’s runner-up in the regular season and tournament. They are led by all-conference first-team member Amara Graham’s 12 points per game average.

California Baptist is in the WNIT for the third straight tournament. Last season, the Lancers advanced to the event’s third round. This season the duo of WAC Player of the Year Caitlyn Harper and WAC Defensive Player of the Year Ana Olaeta have paced the team.

On Monday, March 14 at 12 p.m. (MT) the WNIT will announce the match-ups for the event which is slated to begin on Wednesday, March 16.
