TicketSmarter WAC Golfers of the Week Announced

DENVER – Grand Canyon's Matthew Braley and Seattle U's Keisha Lugito and Rivekka Jumagulova have been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's and Co-Women's Golfers of the Week, respectively, for March 9 through March 15.

Braley, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., led the Lopes to a win at their own GCU Invitational by placing third individually with an 8-under-par 205. He opened the tournament with a pair of 5-under-par rounds of 66 to move to the top of the leaderboard. A 2-over-par 73 in the third round was strong enough to secure Braley the top-3 finish and allow GCU to clinch the team title with an 18-under-par 834 to win by four-strokes over Fresno State.

The duo of Keisha Lugito, a graduate student from Walnut, Calif., and Rivekka Jumagulova, a freshman from Almaty, Kazakhstan, shared weekly honors after tying for fifth place at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird with a 5-over-par 221 to also help the Redhawks to a second-place team finish. Lugito opened the tournament with a 4-over-par 76 before going even-par 72 in the second round and 1-over-par in the third round. Rivekka started off with a 6-over-par 78 and just kept getting better, shooting a 1-over-par 73 and then a 2-under par 70 to climb seven spots in the final round.

Other men's nominees: UT Rio Grande Valley's Taj Sutherland tied for 10th at the GCU Invitational, shooting a 3-under-par 210.

Other women's nominees: Tarleton's Sofia Rodriguez shot a 17-over-par 233 to tie for 18th at the HBU Women's Intercollegiate in Sugar Land, Texas ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Maria Jose Ramirez tied for 13th at the HBU Husky Invitational, shooting 231 on the week … Utah Valley's Victoria Estrada led the Wolverines at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational with a 10-over-par 226.
