DENVER – Sam Houston's Daviciea McCartney and Stephen F. Austin's Asani Hylton has been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 23 through 27.

McCartney, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, dominated the hurdles events at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Thursday through Saturday. He won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.55 seconds that puts him first in the WAC and 20th in the NCAA performance lists. He then came back on the last day of the meet to win the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.07 seconds that placed him second in the WAC and 35th in the NCAA performance lists according to TFRRS.

Hylton, a senior from Westmoreland, Jamaica, placed fourth in the decathlon at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. He competed against the top of the nation scoring 7671 points that placed him fourth in the NCAA performance list according to TFRRS. He marked 2.05m (6' 8.75") on the high jump leg, good for second in the WAC and 57th in the NCAA performance lists.

Other track nominees: Abilene Christian's Jamal January placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (53.49) and 22nd in the 110-meter hurdles (14.26) at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays ... Grand Canyon's Jacob Lewis placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:44.71, first in the WAC and 30th in the NCAA performance lists at the ASU Invitational, Friday through Saturday … Lamar's Declan Neary placed fifth in the 3,000 meters with at time of 9:01.77, first in the WAC and 30th in the NCAA performance lists, at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays … Tarleton's Justin Raines placed 40th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.57 seconds at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Other field nominees: Grand Canyon's Gabriel Binion won the long jump with a mark of 7.41m (24' 3.75") the placed him second in the WAC and 41st in the NCAA performance lists at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational, Thursday through Saturday ... Lamar's Kenson Tate placed second in long jump with a mark of 7.37m (24' 2.25") at the Victor Lopez Classic, Friday and Saturday  … Sam Houston's Daveon Thomas won the discus throw with a mark of 57.10m (187' 4"), first in the WAC and 19th in the NCAA performance lists, at the Victor Lopez Classic.
