TicketSmarter WAC Golfers of the Week Announced

DENVER – Utah Valley's Brady McKinlay and California Baptist's Jocelyn Chee have been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week, respectively, for March 2 through March 8.

McKinlay, a sophomore from Lacombe, Alberta, Canada, posted his best showing of the season with a runner-up finish at the Bandon Dunes Invitational. Shooting a 2-under-par 211, he saved the best for last, posting a 4-under-par 68 in the final round to finish just two strokes out of the lead. As a team, the Wolverines took sixth place among 15 teams.

Chee, a graduate student from Kedah, Malaysia, recorded her fourth career win at CBU, tying the program record, with a 1-over-par 217 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Her path to the top included a 5-under-par 67 in the first round to earn the early lead. As a team, the Lancers took third behind winner Sacramento State and host Hawaii.

Other men's nominees: Abilene Christian's Brian Choe tied for sixth at the Sea Palms Invitational, shooting a 214 for the Cardinals … Dixie State's Brock Nielson earned his second top-20 finish of the spring with an even-par 216 to tie for 17th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate … Grand Canyon's Matteo Cristoni was the Lopes' top scorer at the Desert Mountain Collegiate, shooting a 2-over-par 218 … Lamar's Guillermo Estivill led the Cardinals at the Tiger Invitational, shooting a 219 to finish in 28th place … NM State's Aidan Thomas tied for fifth place at the Wyoming Desert Invitational, shooting a 5-under-par 211 to lead the Aggies to a third-place team finish … UT Rio Grande Valley's Taj Sutherland posted his career best finish, tying for seventh at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational with a 3-over-par 219.

Other women's nominees: Grand Canyon's Siripatsorn Patchana tied for sixth at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, shooting a 221 … Lamar's Linnea Jerlebo shot the lowest round of her career, carding a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of the UTRGV Invitational … NM State's Allison Gasteulm posted a season-low 68 in the second round of the Trinity Forest Invitational to take eighth place and secure a top-10 finish … Tarleton's Mathilde Brogens shot a 1-over-par 226 to tie for third at the UTRGV Invitational … UT Rio Grande Valley's Samantha Garza lowered her score in each round to lead the Vaqueros with third-place finish at the UTRGV Invitational … Utah Valley's Leighton Shosted won her first collegiate event by posting an 8-over-par 224 to win the UTRGV Invitational.
