Sam Houston Favorite to Win 2022 WAC Women's Golf Championship

DENVER – Sam Houston was selected as the favorite to win the 2022 Western Athletic Conference women's golf title in the vote of the league's head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.

The Bearkats received seven first-place votes to finish with 83 total points. Grand Canyon was just three points behind after garnering two first-place votes of their own. Defending champion NM State was third with 73 points followed by Seattle U in fourth with 67. Utah Valley was fifth with 48 points, followed by UT Rio Grande Valley, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin and Chicago State. California Baptist, Dixie State and Tarleton will all be ineligible for the team title due to the transition to NCAA Division I but will enter golfers to compete as individuals who will be eligible for medalist honors.

The 2022 WAC Women's Golf Championship tees off on April 18 at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas.
